25th United Nations
International Peace Day

LWIN's president, David Hall, gave an impassioned speech about peace.  Read it here.

In a world of religious diversity, it is essential to recognize that the need for solace and comfort transcends boundaries. While individuals may adhere to different faith traditions, the human experience of suffering, grief, and hardship is universal.

People experiencing distress benefit from BEING HEARD and UNDERSTOOD regardless of religious affiliation. Extending empathy, compassion and support can be soothing and a profound expression of shared humanity.

Listen attentively to concerns.  Acknowledge emotions and offer validation. This is how we demonstrate RESPECT.  It lays the groundwork for connection.  The International Day of Peace, also known as World Peace Day is a UNITED NATIONS sanctioned holiday celebrated around the world.

“Peace does not mean an absence of conflicts:
differences will always be there.”

- Dalai Lama

Peace means solving these differences through dialogue, education, knowledge and in humane ways.  On this auspicious day, let us strive for a global harmony that transcends borders, races and religions. Let’s join hands for a world where diversity is celebrated and understanding becomes the language that unites us all.

Today is a call to hope, to believe in a future where cooperation, compassion, and justice triumphs over division, conflict and hate.  It is a day that encourages us to take meaningful steps- INDIVIDUALLY & COLLECTIVELY- toward building that future.  Amen.
