Interfaith Sukkot 2023
On October 4, 2023, LWIN co-sponsored an Interfaith Sukkot in conjunction with the St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and its wonderful pastor Cori Olson. What a great gathering we had. We continue to hear from the more than 60 attendees who express their thanks for the program, food, and the true interfaith spirit and fellowship. It was a first-time experience for many of the attendees who expressed gratitude for the chance to learn about Judaism.
Sukkot is a weeklong Jewish holiday that celebrates the gathering of the harvest and commemorates the miraculous protection God provided for the children of Israel when they left Egypt. Jews celebrate Sukkot by building a foliage-covered booth called a sukkah, often in their back yards. During the festival, families eat their meals in their sukkah and often invite friends to join them.

Thanks to Rabbi Marc Labowitz, spiritual leader of Temple Adath Or (TAO.) Rabbi Marc brought such love and wisdom and taught us how Sukkot is a holiday for all peoples. He came to us all the way from Davie with many members of TAO. We are grateful for their effort to share with LWIN.
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who spoke, brought food, and whose presence created such a rich occasion.
Special thanks to Rev Cori Olson, Margot Emery and Luz Van Meek for the venue and to David Hall, Steven Nails, Vicki Lichtman and Anne Goldberg for building a beautiful sukkah.
